What does on-line training through SWPA-IOA cost ?

SWPA-IOA offered on-line training is very affordable. SWPA members in good standing may enroll at $35.00 per credit hour. Non-members may enroll at $100.00 per credit hour.

How do I enroll in SWPA on-line continuing education?

Contact Pam or Mia at (904) 845-7133 or email us at info@swpa.ag and we will contact you at the phone number you provide to collect on-line fees, enroll you in courses you select and provide you with a user name and password. You will need to read and agree to the SWPA/IOA terms of use and continuing logger education policies prior to completing your enrollment and beginning training. Once you have completed the courses including satisfying the requirements for CFE credits the appropriate CFE certificate(s) will be sent to you by fax or email as indicated in the "agreement".

How do I perform the training?

Once you are enrolled and have a user name and password you may launch the SWPA-IOA My Logger Education portal from www.swpa.ag or by going directly to www.myloggereducation.com. You will enter the user name and password provided and your customized "My Training" page will open. From this page you will launch each training module you have been enrolled in by clicking on the launch icon (image here). PLEASE NOTE: Once you launch a course it is important that you remain focused as much as possible on the training screens as they progress and that you attempt the test only after you have thoroughly reviewed the material. Once you take the test and close the screen this training module will NO LONGER be available from your "My Training" page. Whether you pass or fail the test the module will now appear under your "Transcript" tab (see the top of the "My Training" web page). You may launch the training module and take the test as many times as needed until you pass the test (a score of 80 or better is passing). The total time spent on the course and test must not be less than the CFE Credit you are attempting to obtain. For example, for a 1/2 hour CFE Credit your transcript must indicate a minimum of 30 minutes time elapsed on that module. Each time you enter the SWPA-IOA on-line training portal you will need to enter your user ID and password. You should always log out when you complete your education session(s). The log out image (a small blue hand) is at the far top right hand corner of the page. Your enrollment in these training modules and your ability to obtain CFE certificate(s) will expire on December 31, 2011.

How do I get credit for this training (CFE Certificate) to complete the renewal paperwork for my state's SFI program (Georgia = Master Timber Harvester, Florida = Master Logger, etc.?

Once your transcript reflects a passing test score and the SWPA Administrator confirms the time spent meets the minimum requirements you are deemed as eligible for CFE credit. The SWPA Administrator will send you the appropriate CFE Certificate for your use. Renewal of your designation/status for your state program and recordkeeping is your responsibility. However, should you need a copy of proof of completion of the education credit SWPA-IOA will maintain a copy of your education records for a period not to exceed (3) three years beginning January 1 following the year you completed the training.

How do I verify that this training will count for my state's SFI program requirements?

Your state's SFI State Implementation Committee determines what continuing education certifying bodies are applicable and acceptable. All training module's included in the SWPA-IOA on-line training catalog are pending approval for Society of American Foresters for Continuing Forestry Education credit through the end of 2011. At this time we are not aware of any state program that does not accept SAF approved credit. The specific requirements of your state program can be reviewed and confirmed by contacting your state program administrator. In Georgia the Master Timber Harvester program is administered by the University of Georgia Warnell School of Forestry at http://sfi-georgia.org/for-loggers/sfi-for-loggers/ and in Florida at http://www.floridaforest.org/sustainable_forestry_initiative.php .

Can I access my training records or the records, or if an employer the records of my employees for my recordkeeping needs?

You will be able to access your transcript until your enrollment period ends. Employers may access employee transcript with the permission of the employee by using the user ID and Password until the enrollment period ends. The SWPA Administrator will keep a printed copy of all trainees for a period not less than three (3) years. Employers who would like to create a customized training portal that will provide access to all of your employees as a group will need to contact Heyward Burnet, IOA at 904-261-3330 email: Heyward.Burnet@ioausa.com.
